Protest China's persecution of dogs

China is at it again. As you know, more than 50,000 dogs were brutally beaten, electrocuted, or shot to death this past July in response to a rabies outbreak in southwestern China.

Now officials in Beijing are taking people's dogs from them.
Acting on unreasonable regulations, police are confronting people on the street (and reportedly in their homes), taking dogs that:

  • 1. are not registered with the government--estimated to be half of the one million dogs living in the city;

  • 2. are over 14 inches tall, as they claim large dogs are more vicious and likely to spread rabies; or

  • 3. surpass the one-dog-per-household limit. Stray dogs are also being rounded up.

Although officials claim these dogs are being put up for adoption, past experience leads us to believe they will not be so lucky.

China's growing population of pet-lovers are outraged, although the government is attempting to stifle dissent. Help us bring light to this horrible tragedy happening right now. Please write the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Carlos Gutierrez, and ask him to use his influence to encourage China to stop this inhumane campaign.

Thank you for taking action for the animals!
