Save feral cats

Did you know that more cats are intentionally killed in the United States than die from any other documented cause? Who is responsible? The vast majority of these cats are not killed by cruel individuals. They are killed because of an antiquated animal control system.

Feral cats are not socialized to humans. They are not candidates for adoption into homes. To put them into an animal control system is to hand these animals a death sentence.

A recent Alley Cat Allies national survey conducted by Harris Group reveals that an overwhelming majority of Americans — 81% — believes that leaving a stray cat outside to live out his life is more humane than having the cat caught and killed. And despite the public’s humane ethic, feral and stray cats are still being killed because of the operating policies of most U.S. animal pounds and shelters.

Since 1990, Alley Cat Allies has educated the nation about stray and feral cats and promoted Trap-Neuter-Return, the only humane, effective method to manage their population.

And now Alley Cat Allies is working to reform the animal control systems in communities nationwide to stop the killing of cats in shelters.

Millions of Americans don’t know that their taxpayer dollars are being spent killing cats. They don’t know that this cruel and expensive system just doesn’t work to manage the cat population. They don’t know that a humane alternative exists. But with your help, they will know. And they will join in the fight to stop it.

So please do your part today by helping us spread the message. Together, we can save the lives of our nation’s stray and feral cats.

Goal: 50,000 views in 50 days
