Burger King gets the crown on historic animal welfare changes

Burger King is improving its animal welfare policies to begin addressing some of the worst abuses endured by farm animals. The company is taking action on three critical areas: battery cages for laying hens, gestation crates for breeding pigs, and slaughter methods for chickens. Get all the details in this morning's New York Times article.

As the second-largest fast-food company in the country, the recently announced changes in Burger King's policies will affect thousands of animals positively.

While we're still a long way from ending farm animal cruelty, Burger King's commitment to begin moving away from some of the most egregious cruelties is truly precedent-setting in the fast food industry. Animal advocates should be proud to see this improvement and continue campaigning for even more.
